Pupil Premium Strategy
The Department for Education’s pupil premium strategy sets out how schools should use additional funding to improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged pupils and to narrow the attainment gap between them and their peers. Schools are required to publish an annual pupil premium strategy statement explaining how funding is allocated, the barriers faced by disadvantaged pupils, the evidence‑informed approaches being used, and the impact of previous spending. The DfE expects pupil premium funding to be focused on high‑quality teaching, targeted academic support, and wider strategies that help pupils to attend, belong and succeed, with decisions informed by robust evidence such as that provided by the Education Endowment Foundation.
