Our Services

Our Services

We currently offer the following services:

Horizons ‘Satellite’ Provision

From June 2025, the London South East Academies Trust team will be supporting 40 young people from across Hastings who have been permanently excluded from school and currently without a school place.

Our key aim is to help these children re-integrate into education, which we know can be a challenging process for both them and their families. We will do this by building confidence and engagement via bespoke, part-time provision. Activities will be tailored to the needs and interests of each individual child, including sports and other practical sessions, as well as online learning. These will be delivered at different locations in the area, including The Firs in Hastings.

Our experienced team will work with the children to establish what works for them individually and identify any additional needs. We will then be able to help put the right support in place to ensure every pupil can access the curriculum and achieve their learning and life goals.

Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce (APST)

The Department for Education identified several regions across the country that would benefit from an Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce – which included East Sussex. This initiative is focused on supporting children who have been excluded from school or who have been placed in AP because they have been at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school.

We are working closely with East Sussex County Council to be part of a pilot programme to set up an APST. This project involves different services working together in the same location as the children, providing joined-up support – including Educational Psychologists, speech and language therapists, social workers and links to youth justice and mental health services.

This collaborative approach aligns with our aim is to ensure that children have their needs properly identified – and are being supported in an educational setting that is right for them.

Outreach Service

Our Trust's Outreach Team has been working with schools across East Sussex for the past year, having worked in Bromley and Bexley successfully for many years.

The team supports schools with children who are struggling with behaviour issues and as a consequence, are unable to thrive in a mainstream setting. We use a range of approaches to develop a deeper understanding of what each individual child needs to successfully access education.

Our key aim is to help reduce permanent exclusions and ensure every child gets the support they need to flourish in school.
